Individuals and families, including parents, students, and working professionals, often face the daily challenge of deciding what to cook while managing allergies, time constraints, and grocery planning. Although there are many recipe and food delivery apps available, most fail to address the real stress behind meal planning. Users experience decision fatigue, limited allergen safety, and a fragmented journey between discovering recipes, managing groceries, and reducing food waste.
The goal of this phase was to understand the competitive landscape, user demand, and emerging trends in the meal planning and grocery delivery market. The objective was not only to validate the app’s concept but also to identify a unique positioning opportunity that combined recipe personalization, allergen safety, and shopping convenience within a single experience.
Research Approach:

The visual direction aimed to make cooking feel fresh, approachable, and stress-free, reflecting clarity, health, and simplicity. The design focused on accessibility through clean layouts, balanced color contrast, and intuitive visual hierarchy, ensuring that every user could navigate effortlessly. Typography played a key role in enhancing readability, with Manrope chosen for its modern, rounded forms and high legibility across devices, reinforcing the app’s approachable and trustworthy character.

The design was validated through remote testing of a Figma prototype using Maze. The goal was to assess how well the concept aligned with user needs and expectations, and how effectively the design worked in practice. Participants responded positively, describing ListoBites as an organized and stress-free way to plan meals. The results confirmed that the visual direction, interaction flow, and overall concept resonated strongly with users, providing a solid foundation for the next development phase.
